GuidiGO is now live!

What started two years ago as an idea returning from a trip to Venice has now evolved into a reinvention of the guided tour. GuidiGO is a platform to seamlessly publish beautiful interactive guided audio tours on all mobile devices. GuidiGO is also a marketplace where anyone from passionate individuals to guides, museums, tourist offices, historic sites and more can offer them for free or put them up for sale in a number of innovative ways and it holds many other surprises that will launch in the months to come. Technology has greatly evolved and mobile platforms now offer endless opportunities for every industry, and it’s only the beginning. However, some things remain the same and are not distorted by time and evolution and one of them is - storytelling.

Stories are probably the world’s first form of entertainment. “The cornerstone of storytelling is our extreme sociality”, explains Brian Boyd (On The Origin Of Stories, 2010) “Just as physical play serves to sharpen our skills in hunting and battle, story enhances our ability to synthesize social information, look at things from multiple perspectives, explore possibilities and not just actualities etc.” And although many other types of art have developed over time, some evolving substantially such as film and overshadowing the gracious craft of storytelling, none have been able to truly replace it. Stories remain a unique medium even today and no adult has ever forgotten those memorable moments as a child.

GuidiGO grew from this conviction; stories didn’t need to change, they only needed to be enhanced so that more people could hear them and even more, experience them. When one is facing a sculpture, painting or landmark and whether they are historical or modern, a human being will always question its “raison d’être” which is what separates our species from other animals.

So the concept was created. What more convenient than having a completely immersive audio-visual experience in your pocket that is able to guide you through places you never thought about going before. What if passionate local experts shared their story with you in the most personalized manner imaginable; just as though you were standing there right beside them. What easier than visiting a place at your own speed and being able to capture those moments, bring them home and share them with family and friends. And what better than making all this available to those who are not fortunate enough to travel or cannot make the trip due to physical disabilities. That is GuidiGO.

All of us at GuidiGO are brought together by the same motivation; bring to as many people as possible, around the world, the stories behind not only the most beautiful places but also, the not talked about and often secret off beat paths.
